Governor appoints ex-prosecutor to judgeship

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Former prosecutor Chris Schultz of Albuquerque has been appointed by Gov. Susana Martinez to the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court.

[auth] The governor’s office said Friday that Schultz recently retired as deputy district attorney in Bernalillo County and had worked in the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s office since 1999.

He previously had worked as an Albuquerque police officer for almost a decade.

Schultz earned his law degree from the University of New Mexico.

He fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Julie Altwies.
