On August 11, 2014, God called Petra Hernandez home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014, with Deacon Ernesto Martinez officiating at South Park Cemetery.
Petra was born October 19, 1920, in Otis, NM, to Pedro Hernandez and Louisa Caveales. Petra loved to play bingo and sew quilts, she loved to visit with family and [auth] talk over coffee. Petra will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Petra is survived by her daughter, Lucy and husband Roldan Lucero of Roswell; 5 grandchildren, Tabatha Hernandez, Melinda Lucero, Matt Lucero, Alfonso “Ponch” and wife, Cassandrea Lucero, and Fernando Lucero. As well as 16 great-grandchildren, which kept her young at heart: Adrian, Nicole, Victoria Esquivel; Isidro Aldaz and Raymond, Dominic H, Fabian and Nathaniel Atienzo; Armondo, Quintian, Jaysen, Kaysen, Heynnesse Lucero, Andrew, A.J., Katherine, Lili Lucero.
Petra was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Louisa Hernandez, 1 brother, Roberto Hernandez, 2 sisters, Eufimia Hernandez and Sista Bustamante, 2 granddaughters, Rose Mendez and Jennifer Hernandez, all who wait for her at Heaven’s Gates.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and her oldest great-grandson.
Honorary pallbearers will be all who knew her.
