Police: 2 men dead after shooting in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) — Police in Carlsbad say two men are dead after a shootout following a party.

They say shots were fired during an altercation involving several [auth] people about 4 a.m. Monday in the area of Eighth and Lea.

Police say one man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other later died at a hospital.

Their names haven’t been released yet.

Police say a physical confrontation at a home turned into a shootout just two blocks away.

They say their investigation is ongoing and officers still are interviewing witnesses.

There are no immediate reports of any arrests being made in the case.
