Welfare check leads to mental evaluation

A woman was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation following a request for an RPD officer to conduct a welfare check. The event occurred in the 2000 block of South Sunset Boulevard.


Assault suspect ID’d

RPD has a suspect in the case of battery to 20-year-old Deneisha Lopez in the 300 block of East Bonney Street Roswell.


Jaywalking, switchblading and meth piping

Sue Ann Lyons, of Roswell, was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a switchblade. Lyons also had a meth pipe. A patrolling RPD officer observed [auth] her crossing a heavily traveled roadway in an unsafe manner. The officer, concerned for Lyons’ safety, made contact with her and detected the weapon and pipe. The event occurred 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of South Union Avenue.


Found property

A Roswell Police Service Aide recovered Nintendo games from a citizen in the 300 block of Sunrise Road.


Harasser and trespasser

A suspect has been identified for what was initially classified as a case of harassment. The initial call on the case was criminal trespass in the 600 block of Walnut Street Friday evening.


Firefighter’s car deliberately damaged

A Carlsbad firefighter suffered $1,400 loss through vandalism and theft of auto parts to his 2008 Toyota. The crime occurred in the 100 block of Military Heights and was discovered Saturday morning.


Stolen car recovered

An unlawful taking of a motor vehicle is being investigated in the 700 block of Lusk Drive. The car was first reported stolen but later was recovered. There are no suspects.


Man with spiked hair torches dumpster

A dumpster was set ablaze 4 a.m. Sunday. A suspect fleeing the area is described as a male of medium to chunky build either 18 or 19 years old with blonde, spiked hair. The dumpster, located near Wildy Street and Missouri Avenue, is owned by the sanitation department and is valued at $150.


Free lunch lands woman in jail

Lorie Floyd was arrested on a charge of shoplifting from the Allsup’s on the 600 block of South Main Street. Police reported Floyd had taken Fig Newtons, a turkey sandwich, carmel wafers and a black bag with various items.
