Dear Editor: 8-5-14

Dear editor,

With all of the negative attack ads going around this election, it’s important to look at the facts.

Gov. Susana Martinez wants to move our state past the days of Bill Richardson when we were a high-tax state, unfriendly to business. That’s [auth] why she has cut taxes dozens of times in an effort to diversify the economy and end our reliance on the federal government.

Gary King, on the other hand, has a record of raising taxes. When he was in the Roundhouse he voted for the largest tax increase in state history. This is a FACT. Taxes went up on food, medicine and gasoline. These taxes today would devastate middle-class families living paycheck to paycheck. The people in Chaves County just cannot afford more taxes.

The choice in this election is clear: Governor Martinez has a history of lowering taxes and will continue to lower taxes; Gary King has a history of supporting raising taxes and will continue to support raising taxes.
