Restaurant lurking results in bust

A Roswell Police officer investigating a suspicious vehicle wound up arresting a man on a charge of marijuana on Sunday.

At about 10 p.m. an officer saw a vehicle parked behind Church’s Chicken at 104 S. Reed St. The officer found Felipe Larez, 58, and Richard Gonzales, 52, both of Roswell. Subsequently, the officer arrested Larez in connection with a charge of possession of marijuana. Gonzales was arrested on a charge of littering, according to the report.

 

Police investigate vehicle arson

Roswell Police responded to a vehicle fire on the 300 block of East Seventh Street at about 8:50 a.m. on Sunday.

A 1991 Winnebago was destroyed by fire, according to the report. The vehicle was valued at $3,000.

According to the report, the fire is being considered an arson.

 

Two arrested on drug charges

A man and a woman were arrested on a drug charge following a traffic stop on Sunday.

Erik D. Magallanes, 27, of Roswell, was arrested in connection with possession of marijuana after his car was stopped at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday in the 800 block of South Kentucky Avenue. According to police, the vehicle had an inoperable driver’s side brake light. Magallanes was in possession of a syringe and 8.6 grams of marijuana. Shannon Janell Madruga, 36, of Roswell, was also arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police, she was in possession of a glass smoking device.

 

Traffic stop nets arrest

At 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Roswell Police stopped a 1996 Chevrolet pickup in the 1000 block of South Kentucky Avenue for having an expired registration. Arrested was Armando Eljoe Aldaz, 33, of Roswell, in connection with a charge of unlawful use of license.

 

Tow results in parole violation arrest

Police arrested Eugenio Rafael Feliciano, 28, of Roswell, at 8:49 p.m. on Saturday in connection with unlawful use of license and parole violation. A 1993 white Nissan Pickup was also towed following the arrest. The arrest occurred in the 100 block of East Second Street. No other information was available.

 

Man arrested for drinking in public

Roswell Police responded to a request to remove a subject and wound up arresting a Roswell man on a charge of drinking in public. Police responded to the 1100 block of South Main Street at 8:13 p.m. on Saturday where they found Richard Fierro, 67, of Roswell, who was subsequently arrested on a charge of drinking in public. According to police, a can of Coors was seized during the arrest.

 

Shoplifting report results in arrest

Roswell Police responded to a shoplifting call at 1200 South Main Street at 4 p.m. on Saturday, where they arrested Sonja Rene Ruiz, 35, who the report lists as homeless. She was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the report, Ruiz had spoons, syringes, a heart case with a razor blade and residue, and a pink pocketknife. Nearly 7 grams of black tar heroin was also seized from an unidentified juvenile, according to the report.

 

Thieves steal $1,500 in tools

Roswell Police responded to a larceny report in the 1600 block of South Richardson Avenue at 11:41 a.m. on Saturday. According to the report, Four buckets of various hand tools, valued at $1,500, were stolen from the residence.

 

Narcotics call results in arrest

Police responding to a possible narcotics possession call wound up arresting a woman on a variety of charges on Saturday. Roswell Police responded to the 1700 block of West Second Street at 8:48 a.m. on Saturday where they arrested Karolynne Joeitte Archuleta, 31, of Dexter, in connection with charges of failure to comply (two counts), concealing identity and miscellaneous arrest/other agencies or warrants. According to police, she was also in possession of a pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics and a purse containing paraphernalia.

 

Three arrested following traffic stops

Roswell Police arrested two men on drug charges following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Shawn D. Talbert, 28, of Roswell was arrested on a charge of possession, delivery/manufacture of drug paraphernalia at 12:18 a.m. in the 2900 block of Emerald Drive. According to police, he was in possession of a metal pipe with marijuana residue, a glass methamphetamine pipe and a container with marijuana residue.

Anthony M. Sandoval, 18, of Dexter, was arrested following a different traffic stop in the 1200 block of South Garden Avenue at about 12:42 a.m. He was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police, he was in possession of an orange glass smoking device.

Later that morning, police arrested a Roswell woman on drug paraphernalia charges on Saturday.

Adriana S. Sanchez, 18, of Roswell, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at 4 a.m. on the 1400 block of South Lea Avenue. Police stopped the vehicle due to an inoperable driver’s side brake light, according to the report, and discovered a brown glass smoking device, a green container, a blue grinder and an orange dice clip.

 

Police arrest three on paraphernalia charges

Roswell Police arrested two people on drug paraphernalia charges Friday.

Anthony J. White, 36, of Roswell, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on Friday. The arrest occurred at about 6:20 on the 500 block of North Lea Avenue. According to the report, he was in possession of a black and red marijuana pipe. Also arrested was Brandon S. Shae-Tarvin, 22, of Roswell, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the report, he was in possession of a multi-colored marijuana pipe.

Later that evening, at 11:45 p.m. in the 600 block of South Lea Avenue, Roswell Police arrested Paul Broomfield, 21, of Roswell, in connection with a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the police, Broomfield was in possession of a glass meth pipe.

 

Man arrested on drug charge

Roswell Police arrested a man on a drug charge on Friday.

Stanley D. Montoya, 18, of Roswell, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana at 5:08 p.m. on Friday in the 3800 block of South Main Street. According to the report, Montoya was in possession of a small baggie containing 9 grams of marijuana.

 

Car door damaged by gunshot

Roswell Police investigated a gunshot to a vehicle’s door on Friday in the 500 block of South Wyoming Avenue. According to police, a single bullet hole was found in vehicle’s door. Damage to the door was estimated at $1,000.

 

Chaves County Sheriff’s Office

Joseph Ross Hensel was arrested in the 400 block of Lynnwood in Roswell on July 16 in connection with a charge of possession of methamphetamines.

 

Eddy County Sheriff’s Office

The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Crimestoppers of Eddy County, is requesting your assistance in solving the theft and arson of a 2012 Ford Fusion.

The crime occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:19 a.m. on Sunday. Someone took a four-door silver 2012 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was later found at Mesilla and Caballo and was set on fire. The total loss is estimated at approximately $17,000.
