Johnnie M. Skeen, 79, of Roswell, went home to her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2014. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial to follow at Melrose Memorial Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico.
She was born July 24, 1934 in Melrose, daughter of Arthur and Bertha Watson. She had one brother and two sisters.
Johnnie was a graduate of Melrose High School and married Donald Floyd Skeen on October 18, 1952.
She was a resident of Lubbock, Texas for 25 years, employed by the Texas Dept. of Transportation. She became a resident of Roswell in 1984, where she resided at the time of her death. She retired from the New Mexico Dept. of Transportation in 1996. Johnnie was an active member of Highland Baptist Church, and was a loving wife, mother and “Grandmama.”
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, a sister, a son and a granddaughter.
Survivors include, husband Don Skeen of Roswell; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Laura Skeen of Lubbock, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Perkey of Wolfforth, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Marie and Jess Dickenson of Portales; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
