Traffic stop results in 2 arrests

Roswell Police arrested two people following a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Jacob L. Montoya, 21, of Roswell, was arrested on a probation violation after police stopped a vehicle Montoya was driving at about 3 a.m. in the 900 block of Forest Drive, near the intersection with Union Avenue. According to the report, Montoya was in possession of a brass knuckle handle knife.

Police stopped the vehicle due to an inoperable driver’s side brake light, according to the police report.

Police also arrested Destiny Ann Coronado, 19, of Roswell, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, during the same traffic stop.

According to the report, Coronado was in possession of a broken, clear [auth] glass smoking device.

 

Man charged with obstruction

A man was arrested on a charge of obstructing an officer following a traffic stop on the 500 block of East Matthews Street that occurred at 4:36 a.m. on Tuesday.

Jose L. Salas, 69, was arrested on an obstruction charge after police stopped his 1997 Ford pickup truck. The report does not detail what Salas did to be charged.

 

Bicycle reported stolen

At 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the report of a bicycle theft in the 2600 block of North Main street. The stolen bicycle was a Genesis mountain bike valued at $300, according to the report.

 

Man nabbed on drug charge

Roswell police arrested Jesus L. Chavez, 40, on a charge of possession of marijuana at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning on the 1500 block of Stanton Avenue. According to the report, Chavez had 6.8 grams of suspected marijuana wrapped in foil in his possession at the time of arrest.

 

Burglars strike home

At about 3:11 p.m. on Tuesday, Roswell Police responded to a burglary call in the 90 block of West Eyman Street. A burglary with forced entry had occurred, and $2,600 worth of items were reported stolen, including $800 worth of power and hand tools, a $500 water heater, a $700 air conditioner and a $600 washer/dryer set.

 

Thieves steal tools, camera from vehicle

Roswell Police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 1600 block of South Lea Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Thieves stole over $3,300 worth of items from the vehicle, including $2,450 worth of power and hand tools, according to the police report. Also stolen was a Nikon camera worth $800.

 

Man charged with disorderly conduct

Roswell Police arrested Mark F. Stone, 50, of Clovis, in connection with a charge of disorderly conduct, according to a report. The arrest occurred in the 200 block of Sherrill Lane in Roswell at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
