New Mexico murder defendant arrested again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A man awaiting trial for murder in Bernalillo County has been arrested on allegations that he tried to arrange to have sex with a minor.

The Albuquerque Journal reports ( that [auth] 22-year-old Walter Brown was taken into custody Wednesday by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies.

Authorities say Brown was trying to arrange sex online with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

Brown faces charges of criminal sexual communication with a minor and attempt to commit criminal sexual penetration of a minor.

The state Supreme Court ordered Brown released on bond in April pending his trial for felony murder and second-degree murder.

The court justices questioned whether Brown’s bond was set too high.

Prosecutors say Brown fatally stabbed James Moore in May 2011.

The trial is scheduled to start in August.
