Man’s death in Clovis investigated as homicide

CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — Clovis police say they’re investigating a man’s death as a homicide.

Police say a property manager found the body of [auth] 33-year-old Jose Barrera in an apartment on Monday.

According to police, Barrera had a Tucumcari address on his driver’s license but recently had been living in Clovis as a transient.

Police say they’re awaiting a determination of cause of death but say the death is suspicious because of blood found on the victim’s head and because the apartment was supposed to be vacant.
