Cash, credit card reported stolen from vehicle

Roswell police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in at 5:05 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue.

The victim reported a blunt object had been used to break into his 2001 Ford pickup.

A wallet, $460 in cash, one credit card, a Social Security card and a New Mexico driver’s license were reported stolen.

Damages to a passenger door were estimated at $300.

 

Handgun theft

Roswell police responded to a burglary report at 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of North Montana Avenue.

A man reported a Ruger SR40 pistol, valued at $480, had been stolen.

 

Probation arrest

Roswell police arrested a man on a charge of federal probation violation after responding to a shoplifting call on Wednesday.

At about 2 p.m., an officer was conducting a shoplifting investigation into an incident that had occurred earlier in the day when he made contact with a man who gave a false identity.

The subject was later identified as Richard Thyberg, who had been wanted for a federal probation violation. Thyberg was taken into custody without incident.

Thyberg will be held at the Chaves County Detention Center without bond.

 

Pizza Hut embezzlement

Roswell police responded to a report of embezzlement at the Roswell Pizza Hut, at 3013 N. Main St., at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said money was reported stolen from the business. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

 

Shed burglary

Roswell police responded to a burglary report in the 2300 block of North Grand Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A woman reported her shed had been burglarized.

A lady’s bike valued at $119, a surfboard, and two boxes of miscellaneous items estimated in value of $150 were reported stolen.

Damages to the shed’s door were estimated at $100.

 

Two arrested in drug task force raid

The Pecos Valley Drug Task Force arrested two people after serving a search warrant on Tuesday.

Assisted by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team and the Artesia Police Department, the drug task force executed a search warrant at 1305 Yucca St. in Artesia. Numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia were seized, including digital scales and glass pipes.

Two unidentified suspects were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release issued by the task force.

The case is still under investigation.

 

Chaves County Sheriff’s Office

On June 25, Brannon Dean Shelton was arrested in connection with charges of failure to appear, probation violation and resisting, evading, obstructing an officer in the 200 block of Ryan Street in Roswell.

On June 27, Joe R. Steed was arrested in connection with charges resisting, evading, obstructing an officer and interference with public officer in the 400 block of North Virginia Avenue in Roswell.

On June 28, Robert James French was arrested in connection with a charge of possession of methamphetamine in the 3700 block of South Atkinson Avenue in Roswell.

 

Eddy County Sheriff’s Office

The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of automobile larceny on June 28.

Thieves took a 9mm Springfield pistol and a wallet containing bank cards and credit cards and cash from a parked vehicle. The loss is estimated at $650.
