Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the General Douglas L. McBride Roswell Veterans Cemetery for Benjamin Perez Jr., who passed away on September 8, 2008, in Lubbock, Texas.
Ben was born on November 28, 1937, to Benjamin Perez Sr. and Concha Bilbado. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Arturo; grand-daughter Teresa, grand-daughter Liz, and great-grand-daughter Mayela.
He is [auth] survived by his wife, Susan, of 55 years; daughter Terry and her husband Mike; sons, Henry and wife Linda, Robert and wife Delia, David and wife Maria and James and wife Susie. 13 grandchildren; Mikey, Elijah, Tina, Henry Jr., Celena, Shannon, LaDonna, Angelo, Andrew, Alyssa, Nicolette, Benjamin, and Liana; 14 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, E-Anna, Christopher, Jonnie, Joanna, Laura, Alexis, Angelica, Alejandra, Xavier Jr. ”Little Javier”, Kalliah, Angelo, Viviana, and Azreal; one sister Nancy Natera; two brothers, Carlos and Andrew, and his uncle Alex Ortega.
Ben served his country in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves from March 3, 1955 to February 13, 1958 as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged. He was a proud husband, son, father, and grandfather.
In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away.
You faced your task with courage, your spirit did not bend.
And still you kept fighting until the very end.
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered come to me.
So when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer that again.
Always remembered and forever missed.
