Officiating will be Pastor Dennis McKinley of Landmark Baptist Church, Carlsbad, NM, and Pastor Mike Elliott of Faith Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Artesia, beside her husband, Cecil Lunsford.

Flo passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, NM, following a short illness.

Born in Loving, NM, to Charles and Flora Davis on September 27, 1931, Flo was so small that she fit into a shoe box for a cradle. Her childhood nickname was “Tiny.” Soon, however, she flourished as the third child of four. She graduated from Carlsbad Senior High in 1950, and married her sweetheart, Cecil, on July 6 of that summer. They remained sweethearts for 59 years of marriage, missing their 60th anniversary by his death two months before the date.

Meme and Papa were parents of three children: Chuck Lunsford and wife Sandi of Lovington, NM, Ken Lunsford and wife Ann of Houston, TX, and Shirl Clark of Artesia, NM. Their five grandchildren are Tim Lunsford, Kara Jarke, Scott Lunsford, Cory Clark and Melissa Fithen. Six great- grandchildren brought a new round of family celebrations and happiness to Flo and Cecil’s home. Meme’s homemade meals, especially pies and sweets, were the focal point of many a family gathering. Although she worked at various jobs during her life, including at the catalog order counter at Sears and as an office clerk at Roswell Livestock Auction, her years as a homemaker were her favorite.

Flo and Cecil made their home in Roswell, NM, for over 25 years before retiring to Artesia, NM. They both accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, with Flo participating in Bible study and church attendance until her death.

Preceding her in death are her parents, one brother, Bryan Davis, and one sister, Shirley Fletcher. Surviving her is another sister, Virginia Kershner of Englewood, CO. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff and resident friends at Lakeview Christian Home for their devotion and encouragement during the last two weeks of Flo’s life. Gratitude and love are also extended to Home Care Connections, now Caring Angels, especially to Cherry Taylor, her home caregiver.

Music for the services is provided by Jincy Gage and her sister Heather Lewis of Pinon, NM.

Pallbearers are family members Billy Wilson, Terry Johnson, Cory Clark, Stan Fithen, Travis Johnson, and Scott Lunsford.
