Track Nite meets tonight

The final Thursday Nite Track Olympic Day meet for the season will be held on Thursday at the Wool Bowl beginning with registration at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Parade of Athletes at 6 p.m. and scheduled track events.

Events include running, jumping, and throwing for all ages, including senior Olympians.

Parents/Guardians must sign a one-time waiver if your child has not participated in previous TNT events.

The TNT Olympic Day activity is one of more than 700 events taking place nationwide between June 14 and 30.

The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.

Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. This event is sponsored by the Community Transformation Grant. For information about the event, contact Jack Batson at 626-7238.


Faith & Promise to meet

Faith & Promise United Methodist Women’s Cluster Unit will meet Saturday at Peachtree Retirement Village.

Radio Club slates annual field day

The Pecos Valley Amateur Radio Club will participate in this year’s annual field day. The field day will be held at Pioneer Plaza in downtown Roswell from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. This nationwide event gives amateur radio operators the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to the community and allows the interested public to explore ham radio, giving them the option to operate a station under the control of licensed amateurs.

Coyote Volley Ball Camp planned

The 2014 Coyote Volley Ball Camp begins June 30 and July 1 for first through fifth grades at the Roswell High School gymnasium.

The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost for the camp is $25. Sixth- through eighth- graders’ camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 2 and 3. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on June 30 and July 2. Breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt will be provided to camp goers. The camp will include skill development, drills, games and competitions. Desk & Derrick Club to meet

The Desk & Derrick Club of Roswell will meet at noon on Tuesday, July 1, at the Roswell Elks Lodge, located at 1720 N. Montana Ave. The meal will be grilled chicken salad and costs $10.

The speaker for the program will be Bud Hewett, GIS parcel mapper for Chaves County Assessor’s Office. The program will be “Navigating Chaves County with the Web.”
