rita-torrez-obituaryA rosary will be recited for Rita Aragon Torrez, 66, of Roswell, NM, at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Josh Duplissey officiating. [auth] She passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.

Rita was born January 13, 1948, to Granfe Aragon and Amalia Sanchez Aragon in Olney Springs, Colorado.

Rita married the love of her life Nick (Kix) Torrez in 1969. She was a proud and caring, loving mother and grandmother. She dedicated many years to Anthonys Dept. Store and also worked as a caregiver helping others. She was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Nick ( J Boy ) Torrez and Gina of Roswell, NM; two daughters, Annie Acosta and Conrad of San Angelo, TX and Cynthia Torrez also of San Angelo, TX; her brothers, Raymond Aragon and Alice of Roswell, NM; Junior Aragon and Rissa of Clovis, NM; Robert Aragon and Esther of Roswell, NM; Frankie Aragon and Bobbie of Silver City, NM and Efren Aragon of El Paso, TX; her sisters, Isabelle Aguilar and Vincent of Roswell, NM; Virgie Najeras and Andrew of Alamogordo, NM; Susie Sanchez and Ruben of El Paso, TX, and Betty Dutchover of Roswell, NM; her grandchildren, Michael Casares, Eric Aldaz, Kimberly Medina, Josiah Najar, Larry Medina II, Emilio Acosta, Brandon Medina, Sebastian Acosta and Nicholas Torrez; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Granfe and Amalia Aragon, her husband, Nick (Kix) Torrez, her brother, Johnny Aragon, her sisters, Cora Leaton and Stella Guevara.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Dutchover, Wesley Dutchover, Diego Martinez, Justin Martinez, Jason Smolky and Larry Medina.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Following the services the family will be accepting visitation at the Knights of Columbus Hall 900 E. 23rd St, Roswell, NM 88201.
