Police Blotter: Shooting investigated

Roswell Police are investigating a shooting at an occupied dwelling which occurred at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, according to police reports.

No one was injured in the incident, which took place in the 1000 block of S. Michigan Avenue, but the house sustained an unknown amount of damage. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.


Shoplifters [auth] assault employee

On Saturday, Roswell Police responded to the report of an assault on an employee at Dollar General, located at 1012 S. Main Street.

According to police, a group of shoplifters had taken about $100 worth of merchandise, and when an employee approached the group, one of the women tried to strike the employee.

The suspects included one man and three women, and they fled the scene in a white 4-door SUV. According to police, all of the stolen items were recovered.


Increased State Police patrols continue

New Mexico State Police will conduct DWI checkpoints and patrol saturations throughout the Southeast corner of the state, including Chaves, Eddy and Lea counties.

The increased enforcement will continue through the month of June and will target impaired drivers, underage drinking, and aggressive and distracted drivers.

The purpose of the patrols is to reduce alcohol related crashes and deaths within the community, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety.
