A graveside military service will be held at South Park Cemetery on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11 AM for William Roy Pulley, 94, who passed away on May 28, 2014 in his residence at Emeritus at Roswell, formerly known as Villa Del Rey in Roswell, NM. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home.
William was born in Ben Lomond, AR on September 16, 1919 and the family moved to De Queen, AR in 1933. He met his wife and lifetime companion, Inza L. Blanchard, in De Queen, AR and they married July 9, 1938. In August of 1942, at age 22 and after 4 years of marriage he joined the US Navy in Little Rock, AR. Boot camp lasted 5 weeks and he left in September for Bremerton, WA for service aboard the USS Tennessee BB-43. He was a World War II Veteran and was discharged from the Navy in 1945. When he joined his wife in Roswell, he started at Navajo Freight Line and then in November 1949 he also started at Southwestern Public Service (Xcel Energy), a power plant in Roswell, NM and worked as a plant foreman until he retired in 1981, after 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Inza L. Pulley, parents Jesse and Rhoda Pulley, and his 4 brothers, Author Pulley, Bill Pulley, Grady Pulley and Johnny Pulley.
He is survived by his daughter Dorothy and husband Carl Harrison of Roswell, NM, sons Bill and wife Mary Pulley of Roswell, NM, Douglas and wife Teresa Pulley of Austin, TX, David and wife Debbie Pulley of St. Louis, MO and beloved ex-daughter-in-law Peggy Pulley of Sacramento, CA.
9 Grandchildren – Sherri and husband Ronnie Beckham of Roswell, NM, Dara Pulley of Roswell, NM, Michael and wife Heather Pulley of Fort Collins, CO, Clarissa and husband Rustin Harrell of Dripping Springs, TX, Christal and husband Chris Swenson of Las Cruces, NM, Eric Pulley of Sacramento, CA, Cara Pulley of Sacramento, CA, Erica and husband Duane Havens of Roswell, NM and Bryan Pulley of Sacramento, CA
11 Great Grandchildren – Wendie Waddell, Brian Fajardo, Dara Turner, Jonathan Beckham, Max Pulley, Seth Havens, Brady Swenson, Mackenzie Harrell, Emma Havens, Temperance Harrell and Allyssa Harrell
2 Great Great Grandchildren – Lexi Krasowsky and Riley
He led a full life, being a wonderful father and grandfather to all of his babies. He was a loving and supportive husband for his wife Inza, prior to her passing in 2010.
He is in peace with God, looking down with Inza on their friends and family with eternal love.
