Police remind drivers to watch for children

The Roswell Police Department wants to remind drivers that the school year is almost complete.

Not only will children be out and about enjoying their summer break, but summer school will also soon be in session.

Complying with all driving laws is much better than receiving a citation for speeding or potentially injuring a child, according to a news release from the Roswell Police.


Las Cruces man charged with drug trafficking

[auth] Eddie Gallardo, 31, of Las Cruces, was arrested on federal methamphetamine trafficking and firearms charges on Thursday in connection with an FBI criminal investigation, according to a news release.

Gallardo was expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Las Cruces on Friday.

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team arrested Gallardo at his residence and turned him over to the FBI Las Cruces Hybrid Gang Squad.

The FBI and Las Cruces-Doña Ana County Metro Narcotics Agency served a search warrant on the premises.


Eddy County Sheriff looking for Schwan’s burglars

The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Crimestoppers of Eddy County, is seeking the public’s assistance in solving an auto burglary/larceny that took place at 1510 Muscatel Ave. in Carlsbad.

On May 6, between 9:45 and 10 p.m., someone entered a Schwan’s frozen foods truck and removed two bins of foods, a Garmin GPS, and a Voyager back-up camera. A shiny black hatchback vehicle with tinted windows and smoked tail lamps was seen leaving the area headed south. The total loss is estimated at approximately $875.
