Known as “Mike” to friends and family, he was born April 3, 1952. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1970 and went on to pursue an education in the oilfield. He worked in all areas of the oilfield and also worked as an offshore driller. He later began a career installing satellites and from there he worked as a truck driver for the next 30 years of his employment.
He married Virginia Rose Barton on August 9, 1986. She precedes him in death, as well as his parents, Loyd and Dene Barton; his brother, Henry Barton; niece, Sharlotte Barton; and nephew Roy Bunce.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Barton and wife, Tricia, and Jim Pilley, all of Oklahoma; daughter Deanna Hall; daughter Kimberly Chenoweth and husband Ron, all of Roswell; grandchildren Krista and husband, Sidney Pilley; Trae Barton, Natalie Barton, and Jaycee Barton, all of Oklahoma; Dustin Frazier and wife, Ginny; Tyler Frazier, Timothy Frazier, Nicholas Willis Jr., Jesse Lockman, Marshall Blakeney, and Kylee Chenoweth all of Roswell; and Kaci Chenoweth of Carlsbad; and great-grandchildren whom he truly adored and loved with all his heart, Lailah Rose and Maelee Michelle Frazier of Roswell; Zaidyn Love and Xavier Angel “Bubba” Frazier of Belen, NM, Jack Pilley of Oklahoma and Lacey Rose Buckner of Roswell and Katelyn and Dylan Krueger of Carlsbad. He also leaves behind his good friend, Eric “Porky,” and Oscar Gaines.
Mike wore many hats as a loving husband, father, grand- and great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He enjoyed camping, fishing, working out in his shop, cooking out and just having plain family fun…he loved his family more than he loved anything, especially his great- grandbabies. We will miss him dearly but his memory to those who knew him will live forever.
