LOS LUNAS, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been shot by police after a barricade situation in a Los Lunas home.
New Mexico State Police say they were called in to assist Los Lunas police around 9:30 p.m. Friday with an armed man was holed up inside a residence.
State police Lt. Emmanuel Gutierrez says officers attempted to negotiate with the man, who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gutierrez says the suspect then came out of the home wielding a weapon and shots were fired by officers.
Gutierrez says the unidentified man was taken to the hospital but did not give his condition.
He did not say whether the man was wounded by Los Lunas police or state police.
The investigation is ongoing.
