Great American Cleanup in Roswell concludes today

The City of Roswell is encouraging people of all ages to demonstrate that they love where they live by joining hands and volunteering for the 2014 Great American Cleanup.

The local Great American Cleanup movement will be highlighted with Keep Roswell Beautiful hosting a Community Cleanup Registration and Supply Pickup on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Volunteers will be provided with [auth] trash cleanup supplies such as trash bags, gloves, a free T-shirt and coupons for free dumping at the City of Roswell landfill. Refreshments will also be provided.

Additionally, Keep Roswell Beautiful will provide prizes to the largest cleanup team, the largest area cleaned and the most unusual item found during the cleanup.

The Great American Cleanup takes place across the country in urban areas and rural hamlets alike, reaching its apex during the spring season. Throughout the months of March, April and May, an anticipated 1,200 KAB affiliates and participating organizations will bring together an estimated 3.8 million volunteers to produce more vibrant, beautiful, cleaner and safer towns and cities.

In what continues to be the nation’s largest grassroots community improvement program, Keep Roswell Beautiful, along with hundreds of volunteers will coordinate a host of activities to clean up and green up the City of Roswell, from – beautifying and greening neighborhoods by planting trees, flowers and community gardens, removing graffiti, reclaiming community amenities like parks and playgrounds, cleaning up litter and debris from public lands, and host recycling and e-cycling drives. Moreover, the Great American Cleanup is a significant opportunity for local organizations to coordinate activities that encourage civic engagement and action.
