Graveside services will be held for Arthur Joe Waltrip, 85, of Roswell, at 11 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at South Park Cemetery with Rick Ball officiating. He passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2014 from 12 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home.
Arthur was born January 2, 1929 to Garrett Waltrip and Exa Hannaford Waltrip in Crane, Texas.
He married June Mullins on February 11, 1929 she passed away June 10, 2006. They both went to school in Capitan and Ruidoso, both graduated in 1949. He was the District Supervisor for Transwestern Pipeline for many years. Arthur loved airplanes and motorcycles. He worked for Reynolds Aluminum in Corpus Christi and Transwestern Pipeline in Roswell. He retired from Transwestern Pipeline Company. He enjoyed traveling and was interested in the history of the places he traveled. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Lions Club and GWRRA.
Arthur is survived by his three children, Kathy Pickering and her husband, Elton of Singer, LA; Rick Waltrip and Zette Madden of Roswell and Denice Hutchinson of Dalhart, TX; eight grandchildren, fourteen great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his brothers, Kenneth Waltrip and late wife, Mildred of CA; Leon Waltrip and his wife, Diane of CA and Derald Waltrip and late wife, Alta of Ruidoso, NM; sister, Gloria Cummins and her husband, Hollis of Albuquerque, NM; sisters in-laws, Dixie Sigler and late husband, John and Peggy McClellan and late husband, Charles all of Ruidoso, NM. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Additional special family members and companion for the past two years, Joann Hall and her children Rick and Jane Hall and family; Robbie and Courtney Hall and family of Ruidoso and Patti and Scott Cannon and family of Las Cruces, NM.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hollingsworth, Jorge Hollingsworth, Juston Waltrip, Brandon Waltrip, Kirsten Pickering and Rachel Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Exa Waltrip and his wife, June Waltrip.
The family will be accepting visitors at 612 Twin Diamond Rd.
