Police Blotter: Woman’s Social Security number used to file taxes

Identity theft

Police received a report from a woman who discovered a male subject filed taxes, using his own name, but filing under her social security number, Wednesday. The case has been forwarded to the [auth] Criminal Investigation Division.



Police responded to East Byrne Street Wednesday. The victim told officials that between March 4 and Wednesday, an oxygen generator, valued at $1,500, went missing while she had carpet installed and items moved around inside the residence.


Counterfeit money

Police were called to Allsup’s, 501 W. McGaffey St., Thursday after a male subject attempted to get change for a counterfeit $20 bill.
