Funeral services for Marilynn Florence Openshaw, 74, who passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Roswell, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church; The Reverend Dale W. Plummer will be officiating with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Marilynn will lie in state on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 5 – 7 P.M. at Ballard Funeral Home.
Marilynn was born on March 4, 1939 in Buffalo, New York to William Herbert Openshaw and Florence Maloney Openshaw. Her mother Florence Openshaw survives her; she is also survived by her sister Bonnie and Chuck O’Neal, nephews Dr. Bryan and Denise O’Neal, Michael and Nancy O’Neal, David Sean and Shioban O’Neal, Jason and Gloria O’Neal, six grandnieces and one grandnephew with numerous cousins and her precious dog Dusty. Her father William Openshaw preceded her in death.
Marilynn had spent most of her life in Roswell; she was active in Pecos Valley Horsemen and showed English Horses. She was the New Mexico Champion for English Equitation and English Pleasure for many years. She was also a member of the Senior Circle, and a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She volunteered with the humane society and she was always active volunteering in numerous organizations. Marilynn was an X-ray Technician the majority of her working career and was a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
