A rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Parish in Dexter for Rogelio Garcia, who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Deacon Herrera of Immaculate Conception Parish on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hagerman Cemetery.
Rogelio was born Dec. 31, 1957, in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Antonio and Carmen Garcia; his father preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Carmen Garcia; his wife of 36 years, Mary Garcia; his sons: Anthony and his wife, Erica, from Dallas, Texas, and their children: Sumayah, Amerah and Christopher; and daughter, Monica, and her husband, Tony Serrano, of Roswell, and their children Esaiah and Tony. His three brothers and one sister also survive him.
Rogelio resided in Dexter for 45 years. He was of the Catholic faith, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid 49er and Lakers fan. Rogelio was a hard worker and took extra care of his family; he loved his grandkids and spending time and vacationing with his family. Rogelio enjoyed meal time; he wanted the family together at meal time.
Serving as pallbearers are Raymond Kimbrell, Fred Kimbrell, Steve Kimbrell, Ben Serrano, Ray Serrano and Juan Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be all the grandchildren.
