Virginia “Kitty” Mae Maxwell

Virginia “Kitty” Mae Maxwell peacefully went to be with the Lord on Jan. 12, 2014, in Chandler, Ariz., where she had moved to be with family in 2010. Mrs. Maxwell will be interred with her husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, at some time in the future with a brief graveside service.

Kitty was born on [auth] Nov. 10, 1923, in Jefferson City, Mo., but lived most of her life in Roswell, where she and her husband raised their family. She was a Christian and longtime member of First Baptist Church in Roswell. Kitty lived a long, wonderful, caring and loving life that we celebrate, but we will mourn our loss.

Mrs. Maxwell is survived by three children: Joy (Keith) Rowe, of Ruston, La., David Maxwell, of Phoenix, Ariz., Karyn (Dennis) DeMartelaere, of Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren: Kyle (Tanya) Rowe, Tamiru Mammo, Stacy (Doug) Mammo Nelson, Jennifer (Jason) Rowe King, Rebecca Maxwell, LouAnn (Daniel) Hembree, and Kevin DeMartelaere; and eight great-grandchildren: Konnor Rowe, Mia Rowe, Levi Rowe, Matthew King, Leah Nelson, Garrison Nelson, Garrett Johnston and Mitchell Hembree; as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Maxwell, of almost 60 years; parents: Steven and Georgia Shockley; sister, Helen Eastwood; and grandson, Eric Burley Maxwell.
