ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — An Albuquerque man has pleaded guilty to robbing a bank in the city at gunpoint last year.

Prosecutors say 59-year-old Mariano H. Herrera entered his plea Tuesday to armed bank robbery [auth] and firearms charges.

Herrera was arrested on Sept. 20, the same day a Wells Fargo Bank branch was robbed.

Authorities say a man wearing a ski mask entered the bank and drew a handgun from his pants.

The man demanded two bank tellers give him all their money and then left on foot and got into a pickup truck.

Two bank customers followed the robber and called 911 to give authorities the vehicle’s license plate number.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Herrera at his home and found a handgun and almost all of the stolen money in a toolbox.
