Helen Vivian Keohane, 97, went to be with her Lord and her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 23, 2014. Helen was born in Kansas City, Mo. to William and Helen (Watson) Putthoff. She was preceded in death by her parents; dear brothers: William and Ernest; and her much loved husband, Frank.
Helen was raised and educated in Missouri, but during World War II, moved to Chicago to work in advertising. It was in Chicago that she met and fell in love with Frank. Helen and Frank were married June 25, 1946, at the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Chicago. In the early 1950s, like many young couples, Helen and Frank moved west and settled in San Jose, Calif. Over the next quarter of a century, they were involved in several family owned businesses and in real estate investing. In 1974, Helen and Frank retired and moved to Roswell, where they were fortunate to make many wonderful friends.
Helen and Frank were members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church for over 30 years. Helen had been an avid bridge player, and while health permitted, Helen and Frank enjoyed serving as volunteers at St. Peter’s, the Roswell Museum and Art Center, the Community Kitchen and the Roswell Adult & Senior Center. Helen and Frank enjoyed traveling by car, plane, train or ship and took many trips to all parts of the world.
Helen is survived by her beloved daughter, Susan; very special cousin, Arlene High, of Florida; devoted niece, Laurie Bogusiewicz, of Chicago; dear niece, Holly Holzapfel, of Florida; and many sweet, thoughtful nieces and nephews located all across the country.
Following her wishes, Helen will be cremated and her cremains placed with those of her dearest husband at South Park Cemetery in Roswell at a later date. No services are scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
