Apple_C2On Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, Virginia Carolyn Apple went home to be with her Lord. Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Sullivan officiating.

Carolyn [auth] was born June 24, 1929, in Aberdeen, N. C.; the daughter of James A. Lineberry and Almira (Johnson) Lineberry. She was the seventh of nine children. She graduated from high school in Cary, N. C., and shortly after that met the love of her life. Carolyn claimed, with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face, that she was one of three girlfriends of Harvey Sheridan Apple. After their courtship, Carolyn and Harvey were married on Sept. 18, 1948, in Raleigh, N.C., thus making Carolyn the real “Apple” of Harvey’s eye.

The couple spent the next eight years in Raliegh before moving to Artesia in 1956. Carolyn loved being a homemaker and her passion was taking care of her family, creating culinary delights, quilting and sewing and hosting the neighborhood coffee group at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Artesia.
