Graveside services for Harold Paul, 87, of Roswell, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at South Park Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Arlet of Adventure Bible Church officiating. The family will be accepting visitations from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. Harold passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.
Harold was born in Madison County, Ill., where he worked on the family farm for 25 years and drove a semi-truck for Illinois Farm Supply during slow times on the farm. Harold left Illinois in 1970 due to health reasons and moved his family to Roswell, where he worked for the Roswell Independent School District as a carpenter in the maintenance department, he retired from the schools in 1989. Harold loved woodworking, reading, his Bible and telling stories about his days on the farm and truck driving. Harold will be missed by all who knew him, especially those who had the privilege of calling him Husband, Dad and Grampa.
Harold was the beloved husband of Arlene Paul who survives him at the family home. Other survivors include his daughter Sandra Schmid and her husband Jake; son Gerald and wife Shena all of Roswell; daughter-in-law Elaine Paul of Worden, Ill.; sister-in-law Hope Bivens of Moro, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jeremy Paul and wife Saori of Edwardsville, Ill.; Laura Chaffin and her husband James of Meridian, Idaho; Jason Paul and companion Denayne Jones; Michael Paul and wife Melissa, all of Roswell and seven great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Paul and son Larry Paul.
