American Legion to have meeting; Senior Circle celebrates new year

American Legion
American Legion post 28 will have a meeting Monday at 7 p.m. Meal at 6 p.m. The meeting is important for all to attend. There will be a discussion of the mid-winter conference in February and updates of gaming and liquor license. For more information, call Commander Orlando Padilla at 317-1070.

Quilters meeting
The Pecos Valley Quilters business meeting will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Roswell Adult and Senior Center, 807 N. Missouri Ave. Visitors are always welcome. For more information please call Krisann Robles at 623-3774.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization with clubs throughout the world dedicated to teaching skills in public speaking and leadership. Roswell Noonday Toastmasters is looking for people who would like to join them every Wednesday from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, on the corner of 19th Street and North Union Avenue. Seniors celebrate
Senior Circle’s [auth] January birthday party is Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Senior Circle facility in the Wilshire Center, 2801 N. Main St., next door to Family Dollar. The party is open to all members and prospective members. There will be refreshments and door prizes and entertainment by the Singin’ Seniors. Senior Circle is an Eastern New Mexico Medical Center resource that offers travel, exercise, health education and much more. For additional information, call the office at 623-2311.
DivorceCare is a video-based weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. The next 13-week session of DivorceCare begins on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, room 102. If you know someone going through a divorce, make sure he or she knows about DivorceCare. It might just be the best thing you could do to help. Workbook cost $15. Scholarships available. DivorceCare for Kids
If you know a child hurting because his or her parents aren’t together anymore, bring him or her to DC4K, a special place for kids ages 5-12 to find help and healing. At our weekly DC4K group, kids make friends with other kids and learn that Jesus loves them during the hard and confusing times too. DC4K will begin meeting on Wednesday for 13 weeks, from 6-8 p.m., at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, room 101. Chapter Z, P.E.O.
Chapter Z, P.E.O., will have a meeting Thursday at 1 p.m. in the home of Nanette Schumacher with Ryann Putman as co-hostess. The program will be the “Suffragette Movement in New Mexico by Mimi de Cognets.” Please call Nanette if unable to attend.

GriefShare, a new seminar, begins Thursday at 6 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, in room 103. This 13-week, video-based seminar provides a safe place to process your grief and brings hope to those who are struggling with the loss of a loved one. Square dance
If you can walk, you can square dance! Enchanted Squares, a local square dance club, will begin hosting free square dance lessons starting on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Roswell Adult Center, 807 N. Missouri Ave. This first class will also have a free home-cooked chili dinner. Square dance lessons will continue every Thursday at the RAC from 6:30-8:30 p.m., lessons will take place for about three months. Everyone is welcome.
