Police Blotter: Child mildly injured in a shooting at residence

An officer was dispatched around 2:45 a.m. Friday in response to reports of shots fired at a residence on the 500 block of South Lea Avenue. A mother and her four juvenile children were sleeping when a gun was discharged near the residence.

Bullets hit the windows of the house and two cars at the residence. One child suffered cuts from the glass of a house window that broke during the shooting. An ambulance was called and paramedics determined that the [auth] injuries were minor and did not require professional medical attention.

Damages to the house and cars totaled $1,700, according to a police report.



• An officer was dispatched to a report of a burglary with forced entry at a residence on West Wells Street, Thursday, around 8:45 p.m. The value of goods stolen totaled $2,090. Items taken included a Sony TV, surround sound stereo, a pistol, an air pistol and two video surveillance cameras.

• Police were called to a report of a spare tire, rim and car battery being stolen from a vehicle on the 1700 block of West Summit Street around 3 p.m. Thursday. The parts were reportedly stolen between 8 p.m. Dec. 26 and 7 a.m. Dec 27. The value of items taken was pegged at $100.



• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of West Albuquerque Street Thursday around 8 p.m. to respond to a report of a pistol being stolen from a residence. The pistol was valued at $250.

• An officer responded to a report of a car radio face plate being stolen from a vehicle on the 2000 block of Juniper Street, Thursday, at around noon. No value was stated for the item stolen.
