SPRINGER, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say an Oklahoma man is dead after a rollover accident in northeastern New Mexico.

New Mexico State Police say officers responded to a single vehicle crash [auth] Monday on State Road 56 just east of Springer.

They say 23-year-old David Matthew Hamilton, of Newcastle, died in the crash.

Authorities say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Three other Oklahoma residents in the vehicle were hurt, but authorities didn’t immediately know the extent of the injuries.

Police investigators say the driver apparently swerved to avoid hitting a dog, lost control and the vehicle rolled through a steel pipe and cable fence before coming to rest on its wheels.
