LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) — A plane crashed Sunday morning in a canyon about a mile south of the Los Alamos Airport.
The Los Alamos Monitor reports [auth] (http://bit.ly/1kpMDRc) that at least one person died as result of the single-engine Aviat Husky crashing in rugged terrain on Canyon Rim Trail.
It’s unknown whether there were other passengers on the plane or whether the plane was taking off or landing when it crashed.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
The aircraft was completely destroyed.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Lynn Lunsford says investigators from the agency were headed to the crash site.
