ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico St[auth] ate Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 14-year-old Santa Fe girl who became ill after taking the illegal drug ecstasy before a concert at the state fairgrounds in Albuquerque.
State Police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez says officers on Tuesday arrested 26-year-old Eric Stone on three counts of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor.
Stone is accused of selling ecstasy to Hannah Bruch. She died Aug. 10 at a hospital after a security guard at Expo New Mexico found her ill.
State Police Chief Pete Kassetas says calls the girl’s death a tragedy and say he hopes the criminal case brought against Stone provides some closure to her family and friends.
It’s not immediately known whether Stone has a lawyer.
