SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Santa Fe police say they have a well-known burglar in custody.

Police arrested 26-year-old Kenneth [auth] Martinez on Wednesday after getting tips about his whereabouts.

An arrest warrant was issued for Martinez last week after he refused to pull over and then crashed his car along a busy Santa Fe road. He ran from the scene.

The warrant accused Martinez of transferring and receiving stolen property. A search of the vehicle turned up a significant amount of stolen jewelry, including one necklace worth $100,000.

Detectives say they have tied Martinez to at least three residential burglaries in November and believe he’s responsible for more.

Martinez submitted a DNA sample and police say they’re hoping that may help link him to more cases.

Detectives say Martinez has a lengthy criminal record.
