SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A Santa Fe man is facing a homicide charge after his girlfriend fell from his moving truck and later died from her injuries.
Police say the accident happened Monday along [auth] Esplendor Street.
Investigators are trying to determine if 24-year-old Jennifer Martinez was possibly pushed out of the truck, jumped out, if the door was closed improperly or if the door was faulty.
Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Moses Trujillo, was initially arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Police say he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and failed a field sobriety test.
Trujillo told investigators Martinez accidentally fell out while he was making a left turn. He called 911.
Police say Trujillo is being held in the Santa Fe County jail. It’s not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
