NM authorities investigate 2 fatal fires

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Bernalillo County authorities are investigating two deadly fires.

Firefighters responded Saturday evening to reports of a travel trailer on fire behind a home in Albuquerque’s South Valley. Inside the RV, crews [auth] found the body of a 4-year-old girl.

Neighbors say the girl’s father ran from the home to the RV, yelling that his baby was inside. They say he tried to go in, but the fire was already intense.

Investigators have determined the fire was accidental, but they have yet to identify the child or determine what sparked the blaze.

The other fire happened early Saturday at an apartment complex. Authorities say a 66-year-old man was found dead from smoke inhalation. His name was not released.

Investigators say that fire started in a bedroom and was determined to be accidental.
