FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Police in Farmington say they’re seeking second-degree murder and domestic battery charges against a man after they found a woman dead in the apartment they shared.
Police say in a statement that they went to the apartment Monday morning after a caller reported a person not breathing. No one answered the door, but neighbors told officers they had heard sounds of a physical fight inside the apartment, so officers went inside.
Standing inside they found 33-year-old Lionel Francis, Sr., and 32-year-old Shai Burbank was lying on the floor dead. The couple’s four-month-old son and Francis’ seven-year-old stepdaughter were also in the home.
Francis was questioned and booked into jail. Police didn’t say if he has an attorney.
The children were placed in protective custody.
