Today another cowboy
Has crossed the Pearly Gates
He’s been a long time coming, Lord,
Where your home for him awaits.
We’ll sorely miss our old friend,
Whose time has come to go.
His friends and family grieve for him
Because we loved him so.
He loved the ranch, the cowboy life,
The open sky and plains.
His stories told of days gone by,
Of progress and of change.
He cherished his beloved book,
And His family,
But most of all he loved his Lord
Who gives eternal life.
So rest in peace, old friend, we pray,
May the angels hold you tight.
Until we join you heavenward,
Sleep on in sweet good night!
