Robbery-carjacking suspect wounded by police in NM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A man suspected of robbing a woman and trying to steal a vehicle from another person has been shot and wounded by Albuquerque [auth] police.

Police say the suspect was shot about 4:45 p.m. Monday and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man’s name wasn’t immediately released by police.

KOB-TV says the suspect was seen carrying a gun along Central Avenue.

Police say the man crashed his car, robbed a woman who was with her 6-year-old son and then attempted to carjack another person before being shot.

The officer involved in the shooting wasn’t injured.
