CHAMA, N.M. (AP) — Search and rescue teams have found the body of a man who had been missing for more than a week after becoming separated from his wife in the mountains of northern [auth] New Mexico.

New Mexico State Police confirm 55-year-old Neda Labjevardi was found Friday. Searchers say Labjevardi was about two and a half miles from his vehicle.

There are indications he likely died as a result of exposure, but State Police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez says the exact cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is completed.

The search began last Sunday when his wife was rescued by a group of hunters after spending several days in the wilderness.

Authorities say the couple became separated after their vehicle got stuck near Chama and they tried to find help.
