LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Defense and prosecution lawyers say talks broken down on a possible plea deal for a Las Cruces woman charged in a case involving a developmentally delayed niece.
The Las Cruces Sun-News (http://bit.ly/15CgkLa) says that leaves Cindy Patriarchias apparently headed for a trial in January.
Patriarchias faces six child abuse-related charges in state District Court.
She and a live-in boyfriend were accused of leaving the girl home alone in what police described as a wooden cage while the rest of the family went to a school function near their home.
Her then-boyfriend, 37-year-old Edmond Gonzales, also awaits trial in the case.
