A rosary will be recited for Lydia Montoya, 49, of Roswell, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Father Moreno officiating. Burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Lydia passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013.
Lydia was born May 8, 1964, to Ermilo B. Montoya and Irene Romero Montoya in Ruidoso, NM.
She was very happy, loved music, loved her family and was a social butterfly. She had a collection of stuffed animals that she called babies. Her nickname was “Sweetie.” She loved Coke and candy. She loved going to church and praying, had lots of faith and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Lydia is survived by her father, Ermilo Montoya, her mother, Irene Montoya; her brothers, Manuel Montoya and his wife, Lupe; Milo Montoya and Tomas Montoya; her sisters, Maria (Nina) Kepford and her husband, Wayne; Cecilia Aguirre, Sylvia Aguirre, Olivia Velos and her husband, Fred and Cynthia Garcia and her husband, Wally; her grandmother, Juanita Montoya and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Manuel Montoya, maternal grandparents, Miguel and Sara Romero and her nephew, Daniel Aguirre.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Montoya, Milo Montoya, Tomas Montoya, Fred Velos, Matt Romero and Juan Aguirre.
