ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Sheriff’s officials say a man is in custody after his wife was stabbed to death in a northwest Albuquerque home and deputies found him covered in blood about a bloc k [auth] away.
A probable cause statement filed by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department says deputies went to the home after a 12-year-old boy told 911 dispatchers his father was stabbing his mother. Deputies found Sandra Ferrales dead with multiple stab wounds.
The boy told deputies his 48-year-old father recently told Ferrales he wanted a divorce and moved out. But he returned at Saturday night and confronted his wife in the shower and repeatedly stabbed her in front of the boy and his 6-year-old brother.
Sheriff’s Capt. Justin Dunlap says Chavez faces an open count of murder and other charges.
