Report: NM attorney bit son, 3, on his face

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico attorney is facing charges after Santa Fe police say he bit his 3-year-old son on his face.

Police say Geoffrey Scovil was arrested late [auth] Saturday when officers found him drunk and sleeping in a house behind a law firm.

According to Santa Fe police spokeswoman Celina Westervelt, the boy had a severe, big red bruise and teeth marks on his check.

The boy told investigators that his parents were playing pool when the boy hit his father with a cue ball. The boy says that’s when his father bit him.

Scovil faces multiple charges, including child abuse, assault on a police officer and obstruction.

It was not known if he had an attorney.
