Harris, age 82, of Roswell, who passed away on September 29, 2013. Pastor Troy Grant with Berrendo Baptist Church will officiate.
Bernie was born October 5, 1930, in Mead, Oklahoma, to Walter Lee Harris and Carrie Thompson Harris. They have preceded him in death as well as a sister, Bernice Harris, and a son Robert L. Harris.
Bernie’s wife of 59 years is Jackie Harris. She survives him at the family home.
Bernie is also survived by a daughter: Linda Graham of Eagle River, Alaska; brother: Charles Harris of Nevada; grandchildren: Mathew Graham, Ashley Graham and Christopher Graham of Eagle River, Alaska, Sarina Tenan and her husband David of Florida, Nicole Ash and her husband Cody of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren: T.J. Yates, Robert Ash, Jaxon Ash, Callie Tenan and Journey Ash; sister- in-law: Mittie Jean Boggess of Pauls Valley Oklahoma; niece: Velma Lear of Snyder, Texas; great-niece: Teri and Brad Finney of Lubbock, TX, Jennifer Lempges of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; great-great-nephews: Darbi and Bailey of Lubbock, Texas, Ron and Grant Lear of Granbury, Texas; great- great-niece: Donna Looney of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
Bernie attended Mead High School in Mead, Oklahoma. He moved to Roswell in 1947. He worked in retail sales and for the New Mexico Trans Co. He drove many charter bus trips for TMC.
Bernie enjoyed going to the Roswell Adult Center. He ran the wood shop and taught carving classes. He was instrumental in getting the tree carving in front of the RAC.
