A memorial service for Mary Ellen Bennett, 78, of Roswell, NM. will be held Monday, September 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Christ’s Church, 2200 Sycamore, with Pastor Gerry Chavez, presiding.
Mary Ellen passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at the age of 78. Mary Ellen is predeceased by her mother, Irene Dinkle Unruh. Mary Ellen is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Anthony (Tony) Bennett (wife Ginger) of Albuquerque, and Dana Bennett of Roswell, Her grandchildren: Summer Miles (husband David), Holly Bennett Smith (husband Ryan), Benjamin Bennett (wife Katherine), Blayne Wenzel, (wife Rosanna), Cara Kite (husband Luke), Michaela Bennett, Her great grandchildren: Auben Miles, Damien Kite, Caiden Kite, Logan Kite, McKenzie Kite, Zach Wenzel, Kayleigh Wenzel and Hayden Wenzel.
Mary Ellen was born in Texline, TX, in 1935. She graduated from High School there, then attended Western School for Secretaries in Albuquerque, NM. She married William Kenneth Bennett on her 18th birthday, and they moved to Roswell in 1955. Mary Ellen went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from ENMU (cum laude). She taught children with special disabilities in Roswell and Dexter schools for many years. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education. She was a faithful member of Christ’s Church in Roswell.
Mary Ellen enjoyed making pottery, working with acrylics, and other crafts. She loved to travel and see the world. She loved her friends, her family, her church, and above all, Jesus Christ. She was committed to her friends, she invested in her family, and she lived for her Lord. We Love You Mary Ellen, Mom, Omah.
