FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Parts of northwestern New Mexico have been slammed by heavy rain sparking flooding in Farmington.

Emergency personnel asked San [auth] Juan County residents on Tuesday to stay off the roads while the area battled the severe weather.

The National Weather Service says the Four Corners should see showers and thunderstorms through Thursday.

Those storms could produce heavy rain and spark even more flooding.

County officials also asked residents to stay indoors and only call 911 in the event of an emergency.
