I want to send a big “thank you!” to all the veterans —past and present — who gave us the honor of riding our “Christmas For Our Troops” float in the July 4 parade. It was a honor to serve you.
Our veterans are: Our seat of Honor- Russell Loomis-WWII Army, Leonard Witcher-WWII Army, Byrd Leroy Lewis-WWII Army, Charles Joy-WWII Air Force, James Crouch-Korean War Navy, Bill Wadkins-Korean War Navy, [auth] Owen Nichols-Vietnam War Army, Woods Houghton-Vietnam War Air Force, David Partain-Vietnam War Army, Lonnie Rodriguez-Vietnam War Army, Don May-Vietnam War, Marines, Epi Bustamante-Vietnam War Marine Corps, Per Landeck-Vietnam War Navy, Peyton Yates-Vietnam War Army, Ignacio Ponce De Leon-Vietnam War Navy, George Morris-Vietnam War Army, Raymond Jones-Vietnam War Army, Linda Ranys-Marine Corps League, Betty Skinner-WAC-Iraq Army, Lindell Smith-Desert and Shield Air Force, Jake Smith-Afghanistan Air Force, Kyle Aton-National Guard-Iraq, Robert “Bob” Handel-Air Force .and we had a very special honor, Jake Smith, who arrived the night before from Afghanistan, Carrie Woods Houghton grandfathers Memorial Battlefield Cross — (rifle-helmet) his grandfather was Paul Edward Culder — a hero as well, wounded three times in WWI, 168th Infantry, 42nd division on the Expeditionary Forces.
Last but not least, I want to say thank you to Wilbanks Trucking for the use of their truck. Their driver Robert Bonogofski is also a veteran of war. He needs to be commended on his excellent driving skills, Also I want to thank Lance Wilbanks and Randy Worley.
They have always been right there for us for, Christmas For Our Troops-(Kickoff in September) and they are super supporters of the veterans as well. Thanks each and every one of you and God bless!
